Handrails & Metal Railings: how we handle it

A loose handrail is more than an eyesore. It’s the thing someone grabs when they slip. When a post wobbles or a weld cracks, it needs to be made solid again, not just tightened and hoped for the best.

We weld steel pipe and tube railings on site: new runs for steps, porches and ramps, returns at the ends so sleeves and bags don’t catch, and repairs to rails that have worked loose or rusted at the base. The photos on this page are from a commercial ramp job, with rails on both sides and closed returns at the ends.

Common problems we fix

  • Loose or wobbly posts

Posts that have worked loose in concrete or wood, or cracked at the base plate. We re-anchor or rebuild the base.

  • Broken welds

Joints that have cracked from use or rust. We grind them out and re-weld them solid.

  • Rusted bases

The bottom of a post rusts first. We cut out the bad steel and rebuild the base.

  • Steps with no rail

New handrails for front steps, back porches and garage steps, sized to fit the spot.

  • Ramp railings

Rails on one or both sides of a ramp, with returns at the ends.

  • Bent or damaged rails

Rails hit by a mower, a car or a trailer. We cut out the damaged section and weld in new.

What’s included

For businesses, we’ve built ramp handrails along storefront walkways. For homes, it’s usually a few steps or a porch: small jobs are welcome.

FAQ

Handrails & railings: common questions

Can you fix a loose handrail instead of replacing it?

Most of the time, yes. If the rail itself is solid, we re-anchor or rebuild the loose post and re-weld any cracked joints. If it’s rusted through, we replace that section.

Do you build new handrails for steps and porches?

Yes. Send us a photo of the steps, the length of the run, and whether it would mount to concrete or wood, and we’ll price it.

Do you do commercial handrails?

Yes. We’ve built ramp handrails along a commercial storefront walkway, with rails on both sides and closed returns. Send photos plus any drawings or measurements you have.

Will the railing be painted?

We can prime and paint it, or leave the steel ready for your painter if you’re matching a color. Tell us what you’d like when you text.
